Sydneyで開催されたオーストラリア・アクチュアリー会Biennial Conventionの模様
今回のシドニー出張は2週間近くの長期間であったが、IAA Meetingsに引き続き、オーストラリア・アクチュアリー会のBiennial Conventionが、4月11日から13日まで開催されたので、この大会にも参加してきた。英国アクチュアリー会の影響を受けて創設された歴史はあるものの、広い国土で明るく開放感もあり、またリーマンショックによるGlobal Financial Crisisの影響も軽微であったことから、経済の調子は良く、オーストラリアドルは、近年になく高値で推移している。アクチュアリープロフェッションの規模は、日本アクチュアリー会とほぼ同等の大きさであろうかと思えた。ただ、大会はヒルトンホテルのコンベンションルームを多数使用しており、日本の年次大会より、はるかに華やかでアメリカの大会に似ている。大きな違いは、やはりコーポレートスポンサーが沢山の寄付をして、Dinner functionなどを丸ごと費用負担していることであろう。賛助会費制度を採用している日本アクチュアリー会では、抵抗のあるところであろうが、アクチュアリープロフェッションの高揚のためには、このような制度も検討すべき時代に入ってきているのかもしれない。プログラムは、次のとおりであった。リンクは、次の通り。
