Sydneyで開催されたオーストラリア・アクチュアリー会Biennial Conventionの模様






今回のシドニー出張は2週間近くの長期間であったが、IAA Meetingsに引き続き、オーストラリア・アクチュアリー会のBiennial Conventionが、4月11日から13日まで開催されたので、この大会にも参加してきた。英国アクチュアリー会の影響を受けて創設された歴史はあるものの、広い国土で明るく開放感もあり、またリーマンショックによるGlobal Financial Crisisの影響も軽微であったことから、経済の調子は良く、オーストラリアドルは、近年になく高値で推移している。アクチュアリープロフェッションの規模は、日本アクチュアリー会とほぼ同等の大きさであろうかと思えた。ただ、大会はヒルトンホテルのコンベンションルームを多数使用しており、日本の年次大会より、はるかに華やかでアメリカの大会に似ている。大きな違いは、やはりコーポレートスポンサーが沢山の寄付をして、Dinner functionなどを丸ごと費用負担していることであろう。賛助会費制度を採用している日本アクチュアリー会では、抵抗のあるところであろうが、アクチュアリープロフェッションの高揚のためには、このような制度も検討すべき時代に入ってきているのかもしれない。プログラムは、次のとおりであった。リンクは、次の通り。

SydneyのIAA会議等で出張



定例のIAA会議が、4月6日から10日まで、オーストラリアのシドニーのSheraton on the Park Hotelで開催された。それに先立ち、私はAON Benfieldのシドニーオフィスを訪問し、Analyticsのリーダーの皆さんと数多くの会議をし、今回の地震の状況についてプレゼンを行った。夜も、ヘッドのWill Gardner他から大変な接待をしてもらった、皆さん、大変酒が強いにには驚いた。翌日は、AON主催のパーティーにIAAの出席者を30名ほど招待して接待した。IAA会議は、いつものInsurance Accounting CommitteeとInsurance Regulation Committee, Reinsurance Sub-committeeに参加し、今日はIACAのcommitteeに参加した。あとは、明朝のAWB Section Annual General Meetingに参加して、IAA会議は終わる。週末をはさんで、11、12、13日は、オーストラリアのBi-Annual Meetinngがあるので、それにも参加する予定だ。今回は、かなりの長期間の出張になる。写真は、AONのシドニーオフィスと、IAA会議のInsurance Accounting committeeの様子である。
